Three suspects arrested for alleged stock theft

The police in Mpumalanga are still carrying out Operation Shanela, and its impact on the fight against crime cannot be underestimated. As a result, three suspects, aged 23 to 41, were arrested by police in Daggakraal after being discovered in possession of sheep carcasses.

The trio were arrested around 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 2.

Daggakraal Police got information regarding three suspects reportedly transporting stolen stock (sheep), according to the report. Police investigated and discovered a vehicle with three occupants. A search was done once the car was stopped, and it was during this time that some sheep carcasses were discovered in the vehicle’s boot.

“The three were then arrested and charged with possession of suspected stolen properties.  Preliminary investigation led the police to a nearby farm where the sheep were allegedly slaughtered and a discovery of about four sheep skins were made. “

The alert members also learned that two sheep carcasses had previously been delivered somewhere. The investigation is still ongoing, and one of its objectives is to find the owner of the stolen sheep.

The three suspects are expected to appear at the Amersfoort Magistrate’s Court on the 4th of December.
