A 38-year-old paramedic at Embuleni Hospital in Mpumalanga has been arrested for dealing drugs
while in uniform.

The man was caught transporting drugs in his private vehicle during an intelligence-led police
operation. He was off-duty and on leave at the time.

In his possession were 200 pitches of rock valued at R14,560 on the street, 192 pitches of nyaope,
and hospital property verified as stolen from Embuleni.

The paramedic was still wearing his uniform while allegedly transporting the narcotics and stolen
equipment.

Police say the man was tracked as part of an ongoing investigation into drug dealing in the area. His
arrest highlights concerns over substance abuse and theft by medical personnel.

Officials emphasize that the actions of one person should not tarnish the reputation of Embuleni
Hospital or its staff. But the case underlines the need for vigilance regarding drug abuse and its
impacts.
