Kruger Park Goes Cash-Free This Holiday Season

Visitors to South Africa’s popular Kruger National Park (KNP) will need to bring cards or online payments this December. The park is transitioning select entry gates and gas stations to completely cash-free operations.
“This move will reduce wait times and risks during our busy peak season,” stated KNP Managing Executive Oscar Mthimkhulu. “We encourage all guests to utilize our pre-pay online booking or speed point card systems for a hassle-free entry experience.”
Beginning December 1st, the Paul Kruger, Phabeni, Numbi, Malelane, and Crocodile Bridge gates will no longer accept cash. The Skukuza Rest Camp fuel station also joins the cash-free roster.
Additional KNP facilities make the transition in early 2024. But for the 2023 holiday rush, park officials emphasize the more visitors who embrace card and mobile payments, the smoother and safer operations will be.
“Assisting this digital shift is a step towards better environmental responsibility and customer service,” Mthimkhulu added. “So, we thank all guests this season for their support and understanding during this change.”
